Giraffes homework and Edshed

16 September 2025 (by Isabel Thompson (ithompson))

Good afternoon all,

As the class are new to year 3, I thought it would be useful to confirm exactly was is expected for homework in year 3.

We are unfortunately having issues with the admin side of Edshed, meaning that when assignments are set they are not showing up on Edshed for year 3. We are hoping to resolve this issue tomorrow. For now, please practice using the physical copy I have sent home, for our spelling test on Friday. I will also post them below.

All children in Key Stage 2 receive the following homework:

  • A minimum of 15 minutes TT Rockstars (A minimum of 1 attempt on Studio).
  • A minimum of 15 minutes Spellings ( 3 assignments on Ed Shed )
  • A minimum of 30 minutes reading (it would be extremely beneficial to your child if you could listen to them read for 10 minutes each week).

-Within your child's Accelerated Reader login they will have Comprehension quizzes to complete when they've finished a book. These quizzes help them to reach their target in their reading for each term. Your child will be given time in class to complete an Accelerated Reader Quiz and will be encouraged to meet 100% by the end of the half term so that they can be rewarded. We will only be doing the quizzes in school from now on.

Should you have any worries or concerns regarding your child's homework, throughout the year, then please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Many thanks, Miss Thompson
