For Children In Need Day we did some spotty subtraction with smarties!
We have been drawing base ten (sticks and dots) to work out addition and subtraction sums, so today we tried using chocolate fingers for tens and smarties for ones. We learnt that if there are not enough ones, we can swap a chocolate finger for some smarties to calculate our answer! Once we had all the right answers, we ate our apparatus (we don't normally do this!).
