Big Question
Our Curriculum
In the Early Years we follow the Development Matters Curriculum 2021. Please find below our Long Term plan for the year commencing September 2023. The plan outlines the topics we will be covering throughout the year and shows some of the areas we will be focusing on. We have three Prime areas, which we focus on Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development, throughout the year but particularly in the first term to help our children settle and feel confident and happy to be at nursery.
Spring 1
Who are the famous animals in my book?
This term we will have a big focus on developing our Literacy skills and developing our story telling skills.
We will be learning about lots of traditional tales and learning about the fantastic characters in them. We will learn to say who our favourite character is and why we like them. We will also be able to identify the bad characters in our stories.
We will be doing lots of role play and lots of story based activities.
If you would like to add anything to our planning or weekly activities, please speak with a member of staff. Your contributions and ideas will be gratefully received.

Autumn 2
When will it snow?
This term we will be exploring the changing seasons and the weather outside. Our main focus will be on Understanding the World.
The children will be learning about the changes taking place and will do lots of investigating to find out what is happening to the world around them.
We will explore what is happening to the trees and the beautiful Autumnal colours that we can see in the natural environement.
We will also be learning about the very special celebrations that take place during these darker months. We will be learning about the Sikh festival of Diwali and the Christian festival of Christmas.
If you have any questions or wish to add anything to our planning, please speak with a member of the nursery team.

Autumn 1
What do I know about me?
This term we will be spending a lot of time getting to know our children inside out. This will help us to understand their learning needs and help us to make them feel settled and at home in our nursery. If you would like to know more about our topic for this term please look at the medium term plan below, which outlines some of the activities we will be doing. Any ideas or contributions to activities from parents are most welcome. If you have any questions about this term's topic please speak with a member of staff.
